Two Great Guitars
OGS is happy to have produced a series of video product reviews for two of Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe’s newest and hottest guitars.
Shot in their Catonsville, Md. showroom — while open for business I might add — OGS worked with in-house salesman, Tyler Wheeler, to capture two brief, but thorough reviews, highlighting the sound of the new Eastman AR805CE arch-top guitar, and the Collings CJ35 guitar.
Each video was published on the individual product page of their website — which OGS built for them in early 2015, view our case study on that project here — and of course their YouTube channel and other social media outlets.
Production Set Up
Using a small set up to accommodate their showroom and business hours, an incredibly accurate audio representation of each instrument was captured using a single large diaphragm condenser mic into a Zoom HD recorder. Natural light from the large showroom window and a Nikkon D7000 DSLR camera did the rest.
Yes I know, the glare on the guitar is a little bright, and the all natural light creates some dips in the footage… and the shotgun mic is a tad hot… but for a run-n-gun small set up during business hours with customers in the store, I am happy the way these turned out.

In addition, each video’s intro and outro has an original audio track written, performed and recorded by Mark O’Dell and Brian Forte of Mixed Business. It features guitar, mandolin, dobro, banjo and bass — all instruments within the appbluegrass.com online inventory… in fact 4 out of the 5 instruments came from ABG’s store!
Certainly looking forward to doing more of these.
