How To Use Disqus for Commenting While Retaining Woocommerce Ratings & Reviews

disqus-logo-blue-whiteJust thought I’d throw it out there, as it took me a long time to find a solution to this…

If you are using Disqus commenting instead of native WordPress commenting, along with Woocommerce, you will notice that (if enabled) rating and reviews will not work on your Woocommerce single products. (ie: the tab will be empty and none of you existing reviews or ratings will appear.)

Short story is that Disqus is blocking the form, so you’ll need to tell Disqus to not do that.

There are two ways that I found:

1. Via functions.php (adding filter to your theme’s functions file.) Great article from Daniel J. Lewis explains how here.

2. Via disqus.php (adding code to the plugin file) Article from ProServe Web Solutions here.

I think the first method is the safest, and so far so good for me. It worked like a charm. I can now run Disqus on the blog area, while retaining the Wocommerce review & rating functionality.

Example on Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe’s online store here.

Hope it helps.
